Drug addiction, also called substance dependence or dependence syndrome, is a condition where a person feels a strong need to have a drug. Addiction too involves other behaviours. These include finding it difficult to control the need to use the drug and feeling the utilise of the drug to be more than important than more normal things such as family or work.[1] When the person does not use the drug for an amount of time, they may suffer from withdrawal.[2]
When a person is addicted, they are usually addicted to a course (a specific kind) of drug. For case: Heroin is a drug that is in the Opiate form. Which ways that a person fond to Heroin may likewise be seen to take an addiction to other opiates such as Morphine.[3]
A person who may easily become addicted to drugs is said to accept an addictive personality. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders defines drug habit as a mental disorder. Drug habit is often linked with other mental disorders.[4]

- Neglecting responsibilities at school, work, or home in favor of drug.[5]
- Wanting to quit using drugs, only being unable to stop.

- Slowed or impeded physical growth.
- Delayed development of language abilities.
- Slowed cerebral development, learning disabilities, and decreased intellectual capabilities.
- Increased gamble of behavioural issues, including hyperactivity, attention deficit, and delinquency.
- Increased risk of mental health disorders later in life, including substance abuse.
